Your child has urethritis. This happens when the urethra becomes inflamed. The urethra is the tube that drains urine out of the body. Depending on age, it can be hard to figure out what is bothering your child. You may need to ask the same question in different ways to figure it out.

Some moms and dads may feel shy about discussing symptoms with their parent friends — they may worry that a problem is a sign of poor parenting, or unhygienic conditions at home. Candida yeast exists in our intestinal tracts and in small amounts on our skin. But a warm, moist diaper can cause yeast to overgrow, resulting in an itchy, red rash. Smaller lesions, called satellite spots, will also be present, appearing close to larger, more defined patches.

The urethra is the channel that passes urine from the bladder. In a girl, the opening of the urethra is above the vagina. In a boy, it is at the tip of the penis. Dysuria can be caused by anything that irritates or inflames the urethra.
